Laura Brenneman is a singer-songwriter and educator based in Brooklyn, NY . Her self-titled EP was recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn in the winter of 2009, with legendary Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu, They Might Be Giants, Laura Cantrell) as producer, and featuring the late Anton Fier. She is currently at work on a long-awaited LP, set to release in late 2026.

With collaborator Jenny Mercein, she is the recipient of a 2023 Dorothy Beckemeyer Skau Art and Music Fund grant (Newcomb Institute)to support the development of a new musical based on the life of artist Hilma af Klint. As composer-lyricist and co-creator of the puppet theater piece Fox vs the Kingdom, she is the recipient of two Jim Henson Foundation production grants. Other projects include music for Antipodes (Danspace, NYC) a commission from The Women’s Project (NYC) for Gurley, a musical based on the life of Helen Gurley Brown, arrangements and accompaniment for Martha Clarke’s The Threepenny Opera (Atlantic Theatre Company, NYC), and original songs for the TV series Heirloom.

Laura is the owner of two music studios in Park Slope, Brooklyn: The Music Room, a membership space dedicated to the art of practicing and teaching music, as well as her personal studio, Stratford Music.
